Are you a creative woman with a public presence? Are you wanting to find ways to live connected to your body and the traditions of holy women, in a culture that seems to want to turn everything into a hierarchy? Maybe you’re an artist, a writer, a teacher, speaker, or a leader in your church. You need practices that are made for women’s lives, sustaining our unique needs and spiritual freedoms. Drawing on the prayers and customs of the first 1200 years of the church, we will encourage and equip you with prayers, practices, and perspectives to help you thrive in your vocation.
Keynote: “Lex Orandi Lex Credendi For Women” by Summer Kinard, M.Div., Th.M.
THE RULE OF PRAYER IS THE RULE OF FAITH. WE KNOW WHAT THE CHURCH HAS TAUGHT FROM THE BEGINNING BY PRAYING HER ANCIENT PRAYERS. WHAT DO THE MINOR & MAJOR ORDER CONSECRATION & ORDINATION PRAYERS FOR WOMEN FROM THE FIRST 1205 YEARS OF THE CHURCH TELL US ABOUT WOMEN’S SANCTITY & PUBLIC VOCATIONS? WHAT IF WOMEN TODAY WERE BLESSED PUBLICLY IN CHURCH FOR MORE THAN BAPTISM, MARRIAGE, AND CHILDBIRTH?
Opening Talk: “A body of sorrows and joys: Women’s witness to the God of all people” by Summer Kinard, M.Div., Th.M. This shorter reflection will look at how devout women’s self expressions teach us how to bear witness in embodied, womanly ways that make faith more accessible for everyone.
Panels: “BUILDING MATRIARCHAL COMMUNITIES IN A PATRIARCHAL CULTURE:
Part One: ONLINE BEST PRACTICES
Part Two: TELLING OUR OWN STORIES”
